The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has taken critical steps over the past year to address the ongoing mental health crisis facing our communities. And we’re proud to say that Monica is leading the charge.

Her proposal to add 30 new mental health treatment beds at Paradise Valley Hospital passed unanimously – creating more resources for community members in need of critical healthcare.

Additionally, the Board of Supervisors voted to establish the Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing (EmPATH) crisis treatment unit at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center — a critical step toward providing long overdue mental healthcare to residents.

These recent actions are a strong step forward in treating a crisis that’s been neglected for far too long. But it’s up to us to keep this momentum going.
