John,
As you know, removing the four Lower Snake River dams is crucial to restoring healthy salmon runs. When salmon are abundant, they keep orcas, surrounding ecosystems, and communities fed. Their survival is a condition of Tribal treaties. Thanks to a new study [[link removed]], we now know that a free-flowing lower Snake River will still provide water needed for farms, cities, industries, and salmon -- even in low-water years.
For years, dam removal opponents have argued that there wouldn’t be enough water for agriculture and other needs if we remove the dams. However, the study tells a different story—that there is enough water in a free-flowing river for the region's needs and it provides practical solutions that will ensure the water supply.
Please support the Department of Ecology to move this water replacement plan forward. It is foundational to removing the Lower Snake River dams. Easily submit a brief comment to Ecology by March 1. [[link removed]]

The more public support we show for solutions, the greater pressure we put on decision-makers to act. Comments are due March 1.
