John,
It was a bitterly cold district week in Minnesota, but the low temperatures didn’t stop our work to defend our rural way of life and to advance the America First agenda.
Congressman Pete Stauber and I are working to undo Biden’s assault on our economy and natural resources. That’s why I joined his recently reintroduced Superior National Forest Restoration Act, legislation that would reverse Biden’s reckless 225,000 acre mining ban. That action killed jobs, blocked resources development, and made the United States more dependent on foreign minerals from China. This ban was nothing more than a cave to radical environmentalists who had influence over whomever was running the previous White House. Our bill changes that. It would reinstate mineral leases and ensure timely review of Mine Plans in order to unlock the full potential of our state’s mineral economy. President Trump understands that, and we’re ready to help him deliver on his promise to restore American energy and domestic mining.
Rural America is the backbone of our country, yet too often, Washington bureaucrats ignore its needs. That’s why I proudly reintroduced the Investing in Rural America Act to cut through red tape and bring investment to rural communities. My bill restores access to financing for essential community facilities like hospitals, childcare centers, and senior care facilities. It reduces federal barriers so Farm Credit institutions can partner with local lenders to bring much-needed capital into rural America, giving communities the tools to grow and attract future generations. I’m pleased to lead this bipartisan effort alongside Rep. Brad Finstad (R-MN) and Rep. Don Davis (D-NC). I will be working for its passage to ensure rural America remains the best place to live and work so our children and grandchildren don’t need to move away for opportunities.
President Donald J. Trump is doing what Joe Biden and the Democrats never had the courage to do: designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations. The Trump administration has sent Congress a list of violent criminal organizations, including MS-13, the Sinaloa cartel, and Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua, to be officially designated as foreign terrorist organizations. This historic move will finally give law enforcement the power they need to track and apprehend the worst actors. The fentanyl crisis is no accident—it’s a community crisis fueled by cartels and enabled by Biden’s open border disaster. With this designation, Trump is delivering on his promise to CRUSH the cartels, secure our border, and make America safe again. I stand with President Trump in this fight and will continue working in Congress to hold the cartels and their enablers accountable.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.
