Last weekend, the president fired over 3,000 federal employees primarily from the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health — including employees responsible for emergency preparedness and outbreak response efforts.

Today, because of these indiscriminate terminations, our nation is less prepared for a public health emergency.

By cutting the CDC’s resources, President Trump is risking the lives of the American people — all to pay for the costs of a billionaire tax cut. It’s wrong, it’s dangerous, and it needs to be put to a stop.
