![]() “Mass firings continue across nation’s health agencies” [1] Last weekend, the president fired over 3,000 federal employees primarily from the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health — including employees responsible for emergency preparedness and outbreak response efforts. Today, because of these indiscriminate terminations, our nation is less prepared for a public health emergency. By cutting the CDC’s resources, President Trump is risking the lives of the American people — all to pay for the costs of a billionaire tax cut. It’s wrong, it’s dangerous, and it needs to be put to a stop.
It has become abundantly clear that the president has little interest in keeping his campaign promise to lower everyday costs. Instead, Trump is focused on lining his billionaire allies’ pockets by freezing the basic functions of government — and we’re already seeing the consequences here in Kansas. Whether it’s the health care workers charged with protecting us from diseases, or the Social Security Administration workers who ensure that seniors receive the benefits they’ve earned, the president is taking a sledgehammer to the agencies whose job is ensuring the wellbeing of the American people — and Sharice is standing up to it.
