Welcome to our Team Tillis newsletter, where we discuss what Thom has been up
to from the campaign trail to Capitol Hill, and everything in between!
Friend,
This week, Thom tackled a marathon budget vote-a-rama, confirmed more of
President Donald J. Trump’s cabinet nominees, and got one step closer to
securing a disaster loan reform bill for small businesses in Western North
Carolina.
We also marked one month since Inauguration Day, but so much has changed in
such a short time, it’s hard to believe it’s only been about 30 days! The
damage left behind by the Biden administration is tedious to sort through, but
Thom and his fellow Republicans are working overtime to give Americans the
country they deserve.
The fight is far from over, and restoring conservative leadership has allowed
for quick progress on everything from securing the border to restoring
transparency. Stay tuned—there’s much more to come!

Confirmations Highlight: Kash Patel
<[link removed]>
After months of hard work and advocacy, we can finally congratulate our new
FBI Director, Kash Patel! Thom took extensive time getting to know Kash and
fought tirelessly to get him through the confirmation process in a fair and
timely manner.
As Thom mentioned many times, this wasn’t an easy task. Democrats were
determined to skew the process and treat Kash unfairly—just as they have with
nearly every nominee. Their biases are always on full display, and they refuse
to show common sense if it requires them to reach across the aisle.
But Kash is about to bring change to an agency that desperately needs it. The
political weaponization of the FBI has tarnished its reputation in recent
years, and it’s time to restore public trust with transparency and
accountability.
Kash is dedicated to rebuilding an FBI the American people can be proud of,
which we’re eager to see play out over the next four years.
On The Hill: Senate Adopts Budget Resolution
After years of President Biden and the Democrats’ disastrous policies, Thom
and his fellow Senate Republicans are working with President Trump to deliver
real results across the board—and the budget is no exception.
After hours of voting during an all-nighter that spilled into the wee hours of
Friday morning, the Senate’s bill to strengthen border security, boost energy
production, and advance President Trump’s agenda passed 52-48.
This budget puts Americans first and delivers on President Trump’s campaign
promises in a much faster manner than anyone thought possible. We applaud Thom
and Senate Republicans for putting our country first!

North Carolina News: Disaster Relief
<[link removed]>
Thom remains committed to helping North Carolinians who are still rebuilding
and recovering in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene—especially as many of those
who have been impacted now brace for winter weather.
This week, Thom met with Governor Stein and Senator Ted Budd to discuss
ongoing recovery efforts and issued the following joint statement:
“It was a productive meeting. We are all on the same page when it comes to
getting the people of Western North Carolina the assistance they need and we
will continue to work together in that effort.”
Additionally, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee advanced The
Disaster Loan Accountability and Reform Act with bipartisan support, paving the
way for consideration on the Senate floor. This legislation will enhance
oversight, tighten financial controls, and eliminate wasteful spending by
instituting clear reporting and budgeting standards.
As Thom put it, small businesses across Western North Carolina were hit hard
by Hurricane Helene, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they have the
resources to recover and rebuild.
