My name is Zee, and I am a Democratic political operative. And I am asking you to take a brief moment to read this message and consider joining our ranks at National Ground Game.

My journey into campaigns and politics began in 2016 on Bernie Sanders' transformative presidential campaign. That experience led me to AOC's underdog run in 2018, where I handled a crucial piece of the grassroots field program that fueled her inspiring victory.

For Democrats casting about in the wilderness searching for the path back to power—and back into the hearts and minds of millions of American voters—a steady, strong, and seasoned ground organization is indispensable.

But before I discuss how we do this—and ask for your support for our new initiative, National Ground Game—I want to explain why I am reaching out at this precise moment.

After nearly a decade working in American politics with its intoxicating highs and abysmal lows, I can say this to you with absolute certainty: our country and our democracy are at a breaking point.

The threat that Trump posed was real when I started my political career in 2016, but it is even more urgent, and unimaginably dangerous, right now.

Trump and his MAGA loyalists are celebrating the malice and cruelty of widespread deportations of immigrants and immigrant families who have no criminal history; relishing in their mass layoffs and firings of federal workers with no justification, and no cause; and enjoying completely unchecked power as they steamroll over Congress and the courts to position Trump as the sole source of authority over government (aka, a dictator):

These are the challenges and the very dark and very heavy burden that has fallen on all of us. But the outlook is not bleak—and it is far from hopeless.

The American people are, at this moment, like the “sleeping giant” in the legendary quote attributed to Isoroku Yamamoto, the Japanese Admiral who planned the attack on Pearl Harbor: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

But nothing is going to happen on its own. No one is coming to save us from this danger—every single one of us must act, must do what we can, when we can, to fight back and make sure that MAGA comes to understand our terrible resolve.

National Ground Game is a grassroots group with a 50-state strategy to organize for the working class, to fight for universal healthcare, labor rights, and personal freedoms. We are having the deeper conversations that go beyond typical campaign outreach in an election season.

Our team, and our mission, is on the rise. There is massive enthusiasm and support for a unifying force to focus on fixing the fundamental problems that hold us back—and allow Trump to act as a dictator—and change hearts and minds on a personal level.
