Hi folks, it's Ghazala Hashmi. I’m sorry I haven’t contacted you in a few months. The legislative session, which ended this evening in Richmond, prohibited me from certain campaign activities, including fundraising. It’s been a while, so I wanted to send you a quick update outlining our accomplishments.
But first, I need your help. Because of the pause, we’ve fallen behind in many fundraising metrics. So, I’m setting a goal of raising $25,000 for my Lt. Gov. campaign by the end of February. I hope you will contribute toward that goal today.

During the session, my colleagues and I fought hard for Virginians and made significant progress: - My colleagues supported my legislation to protect the right to contraception.
- We invested record-high school funding through budget language built on my legislation.
- We passed three Constitutional Amendments – the first step in a multi-year process – to protect the right to abortion, the right to marry who you love, and the right to vote.
-
I secured $12 million in the budget to improve mathematics education in Virginia.
- I passed legislation to help address our growing energy needs in Virginia without reliance on fossil fuels.
-
My colleagues and I worked on increasing worker protections, the right to collective bargaining, raising the minimum wage, and greater economic security for working families.
- We passed significant support for childcare and early childhood education.
And that’s just the start. I am proud of our work this session – but I know the work is never done. I’m running for Lieutenant Governor because standing up for Virginia families and fighting for our future is my true calling – but I can’t do this alone.
Please donate any amount to my campaign today to help me make up for lost fundraising time. I’m counting on grassroots supporters like you to help me raise $25,000 before the end of the month – with donations of $10, $25, and $50 at a time. Are you with me?
