This Saturday, May 30th, at 2 p.m. we are having a Special Meeting to discuss and vote on three amendments to our Chapter Bylaws. You can read the details of the proposed bylaw amendments here. Context for each amendment is included in the full text so that you can see the purpose of the amendment.
Our chapter bylaws are similar to a constitution: they outline how our chapter is structured at a fundamental level. We invite you to read over the proposed amendments and join us as we discuss them! At this meeting we'll also give a brief overview of Robert's Rules of Order, which we use to conduct business and debate. You can view a presentation on the flow of Robert's Rules here.
In June we will be electing officers to our Local Council. We will be electing co-chairs, a treasurer, a secretary, a membership chair, and two at-large members. You can read more about each role here. If you think someone would make a good candidate, please nominate them by emailing [email protected] by midnight CST, May 30th!

Voting on Slack
For the time being, we are voting on official business in a dedicated channel on our chapter's Slack. Slack is a communication platform that we use to discuss things between meetings. In order to vote on chapter business, you must be a member in good standing with the national DSA organization, which means your dues are up to date (or you are paying them monthly). There is a private channel in Slack called #dues-only that only members in good standing can access. That is where we will vote during the meeting, so please join that channel.
