We thought it couldn’t get worse but unfortunately we were dead wrong. It’s been less than a month since Donald J. Trump’s inauguration and all signs point to the fact that Israel is preparing to ramp up its ethnic cleansing of Gaza, despite the supposed ceasefire.

Last month, eight members of the Israeli parliament’s Foreign and Defense Committee wrote and signed a letter to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz demanding that he order Israeli soldiers in Gaza to commit even more crimes against humanity. Their bloodthirstiness won’t cease just because there’s a “ceasefire.”

But here’s the catch: the father and son he shot at seventeen times were actually Israeli! This is how deep the pro-apartheid brain rot goes. Then, in the hospital, the Israeli father and son posted on social media that they had been shot by a Palestinian.

This situation is as ridiculous as it is tragic—and it reveals just how corrupting anti-Palestinian hatred can be. With Donald Trump as president, we’ve already seen the normalization of anti-Palestinian rhetoric. We can’t allow that to extend to the normalization of anti-Palestinian violence.

The letter had three demands of the army: 1) Destroy all energy sources in Gaza including fuel, solar panels, generators and power lines, 2) Destroy all food and water sources including warehouses, water and water pumps, even water that is being used to keep civilians alive, 3) Kill everyone who fails to fly a white flag of surrender.

Let’s be as clear as possible: destroying civilian infrastructure is a war crime and depriving people of food, fuel, and water will lead to countless deaths, even more than the 45,000 already reported. Infants died of hypothermia because of insufficient heating and now cold temperatures are putting even more babies and children at risk.

Without fuel sources, even more will die. These militant Israeli extremists want you to believe that they are fighting a justified and humane war against terrorism but they also have the audacity to write down their own genocidal goals and publish them for the world to see.

The overwhelming majority of Gazans are completely innocent civilians and more than 50% are under the age of 18. There’s no way around it: Israel’s ruling coalition has killed children and wants to kill even more.

Here at home, we expect our leaders to act morally and courageously but not even one member of Congress has publicly denounced this genocidal letter. That includes the 95 members of the Congressional “Progressive” Caucus, many of whom claim to support human rights and Palestinian dignity but who have actually voted to send even more weapons to Israel.

That’s where we come in. Our mission is to end “progressive” support for apartheid, genocide, and crimes against humanity. We are working day in and day out to hold accountable the Members of Congress who claim to be progressive but actually are abetting Netanyahu’s eradication of Palestine.

They say there’s a ceasefire but the bombs are still falling on Gaza and millions of people there are still at risk of death, dismemberment, and dispacement.
