Hi John,
We’ve been in session for almost a month now, and as a valued member of our organization, I want to make sure you’re up-to-date on all that we’ve been working on and all the heavy weight we’ve been lifting for our climate. Will you help us lift the weight of climate action this session?
Going into this session we anticipated having to do a great deal of defense on the climate progress we’ve already made. There have already been 2 Major Threats to our climate and environment: HB 3119 that would delay our clean truck rules and threaten our clean air, and SB 777, a reappeared Major Threat from previous sessions that would multiply up to 7 times the amount already paid for livestock confirmed killed or injured by wolves.
Regardless of this defense, we set ambitious legislative goals, because that’s exactly what this moment requires. We’re already working hard to pass a transportation package that centers climate and equity, advance solutions for more affordable clean energy, protect Oregonians from sky-high rate hikes by holding utility companies accountable, andto safeguard our streamflows by protecting Oregon’s water. This isn’t the moment for us to back down on our commitments. Now is the time to stand up and show what Oregonians value and what we won’t stand for, while we continue to lead on climate action across the country. The more power we have united, the stronger we are, and therefore the more we can lift and accomplish. Will you help us lift the weight of climate action this session?
