Folks, we learned long ago that Donald Trump has zero respect for the men and women he asks to protect our country.
He calls fallen soldiers “losers” and “suckers.” He feuds with Gold Star families. He smears the late John McCain’s service and disparages captured service members.
His open hostility to those who’ve served — who’ve sacrificed more than he can even begin to comprehend — is disgusting to me.
We owe our veterans immense gratitude for their many sacrifices, and the best support and benefits our country can provide.
But right now, Trump’s actions are hurting our vets.
His executive orders are causing “chaos” at the VA according to its staff. And he’s slashing the federal workforce — which is made up of 30% veterans, compared to just 5% in the private workforce.
Our veterans deserve gratitude, support and respect. Instead, this is what many are getting:
