Dear John,
I wanted to share with you some updates from this week in Congress. Here are three things you need to know:
-
We passed legislation this afternoon in the U.S. House of Representatives to enhance the Paycheck Protection Program and provide businesses with greater flexibility by extending the program’s forgiveness period. The Paycheck Protection Program supports billions in forgivable loans for small businesses to continue paying their employees. This piece of legislation will support our communities through the COVID-19 financial crisis, and will minimize job loss and recession when the dust settles.
-
As Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, I continue to work hard to maintain the supply chain between America’s farmers and America’s families putting food on the table. With restaurants closed and markets overwhelmed, it is more important than ever that we continue the cycle of agriculture that keeps us going.
-
On Monday, May 25, we observed Memorial Day. Even in this moment of crisis, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and pledge to honor their sacrifice today and every day.
Please visit my website for more information and updates. I am working hard to serve you every day.
Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford Bishop
