Friends -- As a fourth-generation Washingtonian, I'm proud that our state has been a national leader when it comes to fighting discrimination, especially on behalf of LGBTQ+ individuals.

As the people's lawyer, my job is to protect the rights of Washingtonians -- and I take that job seriously. I'm challenging President Trump on his unconstitutional transgender military ban. I personally argued the Arlene's Flowers case in front of the Washington State Supreme Court, securing a powerful victory for same-sex couples in one of the most important civil rights cases across the country. And, I'm fighting to defeat the president's "conscience rule" in court to guarantee equal opportunity, safety from discrimination, and equal access to unbiased health care for all.

This administration is threatening the lives of LGBTQ+ people in our country and across the world. Now, President Trump has created a new commission on human rights that is composed almost entirely of anti-LGBTQ+ advocates who will advise the White House to turn the clock back on LGBTQ+ rights.

LGBTQ+ rights are human rights, and we need this so-called "human rights" commission to acknowledge that. If you believe that President Trump and his commission should prioritize LGBTQ+ rights and push for progress, please sign our petition today. ([link removed])

Thank you for helping us fight discrimination whenever it arises,
Bob
