Trade Mission to LIFESTYLE Week Tokyo, Japan

Date: Monday 30th June - Friday 4th July 2025

Explore the exciting and dynamic retail landscape of Japan

Join The Department for Business & Trade (DBT) on a trade mission to Japan, exhibiting at LIFESTYLE Week Tokyo trade fair.

This mission will enhance your knowledge of and connections within the Japanese market, and ultimately help you build a successful brand in Japan, culminating in showcasing your products over three days with our dedicated stand at LIFESTYLE Week Tokyo.

Programme

In addition to exhibiting at the trade show, brands will participate in an exciting programme of activity including a retail tour of Tokyo to get to know the market and key players. As well as an education and networking session at the British Embassy Tokyo, during which you will meet market experts and start to build your network of future strategic and commercial partners.

To wrap up the mission, we will have an optional visit to the UK Pavilion celebrating the UK’s openness, inclusivity and partnership across the world at Expo 2025 Osaka on Saturday 5th July.

Who is this mission for?

This opportunity is by invitation only.

We welcome applications from experienced UK businesses looking to enter and expand into the Japanese market, from the following categories:  

  • Homeware & Interiors
  • Giftware
  • Health & Beauty
  • Toys
  • Stationery
  • Baby & Kids

Ideally brands will have a strong international sales record and have the resources to enter new markets.

To be considered, brands should have a minimum turnover of £500K.

The Innovation Challenge

A Tailor-Made Competition Working to Support SME’s On Their Innovation Journey

The Innovation Challenge 2025 is powered by TBAT Innovation, in partnership with Headline Sponsor Shakespeare Martineau and Platinum Sponsor Barclays Eagle Labs.

The Innovation Challenge leverages the expertise of our unique partner network while seeing our partners come together to deliver four free-to-attend, vibrant, and informative workshops.

Businesses are then encouraged to apply to win, with the Top 10 pitching live at our Finalist Showcase event in October.

PHASE 1

March – June 2025: 4 free-to-attend online workshops take place covering key elements of business growth. The workshops are open to all, with no requirement to apply to win the overall challenge.

PHASE 2

June 2025: Applications open and businesses can apply to win The Innovation Challenge by submitting an application form and supporting documents. See eligibility criteria here.

PHASE 3

October 2025: Shortlisted organisations will be invited to pitch LIVE at our Finalist Showcase event, where our judging panel will crown our Winner and 2 Runners-up.
