Email from Doorways So many folks showed support during Valentine's week! Save the date! Rocklands' Pig and Oyster Roast benefiting Doorways is Thursday, May 1st. Tickets on sale soon! Thank You for Sharing the Love! We are so grateful to be part of such a caring community! So many folks shared the love during Valentine's Week! Thanks to Solace Outpost in Falls Church and Champagne Velvet (pictured below) for hosting a Valentine's Concert Friday night! $1,400 was raised to help survivors in our community! Children and families of Arlington Montessori House donated special sensory stuffed animals, toys, and weighted blankets (pictured below) to assist our children in counseling - and made pretty Valentine's cards, too! The Neighborhood Barbershop has been collecting tips and donations from their patrons for the past two months and donated $318 last week! Conrad Hotel in Washington, DC, chose Doorways to be the recipient of their "Cookie-grams" fundraiser for February and raised $1,137 - because giving back is always on the menu at Conrad. Thank you all for your amazing generosity - and the love that you share! In the News Gabby Petito’s parents aren’t done fighting in new Netflix doc As they discuss the series’ release, Gabby’s parents — her mother Nichole Schmidt, stepfather Jim Schmidt, father Joe Petito, and stepmother Tara Petito — reflect on their daughter’s murder, her vibrant spirit, and their ongoing efforts to transform tragedy into meaningful action with the Gabby Petito Foundation and beyond. Visit our Website Gabby touched so many people. She touched the world, and by getting her story out there to more viewers, maybe it’ll save one more life. We’ve already received so many messages saying, “Because of Gabby’s story, I got out of that relationship.” That’s why we started the foundation as well, to help others and get resources in their hands. That is so important, because Gabby was not able to get those tools. During Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, we can all help foster healthy relationships “I wish I had known this when I was younger.” "Many adults who seek support and advocacy are surprised when they learn about the warning signs of unhealthy and abusive relationships. With hindsight, they recognize patterns of control and disrespect in their past relationships — warning signs they might have acted on if they had known what to look for earlier. Teens also need help recognizing these red flags. According to the CDC, one in three teens in the U.S. will experience some form of relationship abuse before turning 18."
