I’ll be frank,
John.

Whether or not Joe Biden was your first or last choice for president, we
all know that our planet can’t afford another four years of Donald
Trump.

After our endorsed candidates, Sen. Sanders and Sen. Warren, suspended
their campaigns, I was disappointed – but I believed then and now in our
movement’s ability to fight to keep fossil fuels in the ground and win a
Green New Deal under the next administration no matter who won the
nomination.

In order to realize this vision and make the progress we need for every
community, we must defeat Trump and elect candidates up and down the
ballot who trust experts and science. And we must stop the reign of big
oil executives who are pulling the strings of our government.

We know from recent polling that sharing the truth about Trump’s record on
climate is one of the best ways to move persuadable voters away from
him.^1

That’s why I’m proud to join with climate scientists and activists in a
new effort called Climate Power 2020 to expose the truth about Trump’s
anti-science agenda. Together, we will amplify our demands to end the era
of fossil fuels and reach the voters who could tip the scales in the
general election and bring us closer to justice.

John, but we need the resources
to pull it off. Can you chip in $3 right now and help us win
big in 2020?Let's win this November →

The truth is that most of our funds are earmarked for the non-partisan
work that we do. We know that so much of our work transcends partisanship,
and that’s a good thing.

But in an election year as important as this one, we need the funds to be
able to reach persuadable voters in key states and expose the truth about
Trump’s record on climate.

We know this can work,
John. A new poll from the
Global Strategy Group found that:

* Critiquing Trump’s record on climate results in real movement away
from Trump among persuadable voters AND increases motivation to vote
for Hispanic and younger voters.
* Critiques of Trump’s record of ignoring experts and denying reality on
the dual crises of climate and coronavirus move persuadable voters
away from him.

With your help, we’re going to target voters in Arizona, Colorado,
Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to
make sure that Trump’s climate record is top of mind in November.

that we have the resources needed to put climate front and center in the
general election and all the way down the ballot?

This is a really exciting initiative,
John, with many stellar
partners and leaders on board. I’m proud to be serving as an Advisory
Board Member of Climate Power 2020 – and I’m excited to take your support
and commitment to climate action with me. I wouldn’t be hopeful about the
future without all of you.

We always knew that it was going to take a lot of work to defeat Trump and
that one candidate – no matter how bold on climate – wouldn’t solve
everything. Now is our time to make way for change.

It’s up to all of us to build a movement strong enough to elect climate
champions at all levels of government who are committed to take immediate
action on climate change on day one in office.

Let’s get to work.
