We wanted to make sure you saw this important message from ACLU National about a dangerous anti-immigration bill – H.R. 32, also known as the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act – that is making its way through Congress. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on H.R. 32 this week. We need to act now!

H.R. 32 would strip state and local governments of federal funds that might be used "for the benefit" of undocumented immigrants. The bill names funding for "food, shelter, healthcare services, legal services, and transportation," but leaves the door open to cutting "any" federal funding.

Donald Trump is yet again holding our government funding hostage to win extreme concessions – this time threatening the government functions we depend upon, like road maintenance, schools, hospitals, and more to enforce a cruel agenda of racial profiling and mass deportations.

We'll be clear: Our government can't threaten basic public services to get their way. But the Defund Our Communities Act would do exactly that, cutting federal funding to state and local governments that won't or can't provide local resources to Donald Trump's mass deportations agenda.
