Our country’s public health experts at the CDC say they’ve been “muzzled” by the Trump administration. One official admitted, “What’s tough is that if we would have acted earlier on what we knew and recommended, we would have saved lives and money.”

Trump and his GOP cronies like Lee Zeldin have politicized their response to the outbreak, silencing the voices of scientists and putting us all at risk.

The contrast between Zeldin and me could not be clearer. Zeldin has continuously cheered on the President, echoing his anti-science messages while lauding Trump for his disastrous response to the pandemic.

That’s why we MUST defeat Zeldin. But national Republicans, corporate PACs, and far-right groups are helping Zeldin stockpile money to secure his reelection this fall -- he has already raised nearly $1 million from PACs this cycle! The good news is that my background and strong message on science provide a unique contrast with Zeldin, and we can beat one of Donald Trump’s most loyal science-denying puppets in the House if we can put our message in front of voters across New York’s 1st District.

Our paid communications strategy is designed to reach tens of thousands of voters, but as Trump and Zeldin grow more unpopular among voters, we know the GOP will spend millions more to conflate the facts and protect them.

We’ve got our work cut out for us -- and we’ve got a critical filing deadline coming up in just a few days, on June 3, when we’ve got to prove our strength in this race. Currently, we’re short of our May fundraising goal by $9,200.
