We will not rest until we get justice. Capitalism has long stepped on the necks of Black people

Hello Supporters,

The past few days have been a rollercoaster of emotions for

many people. Because of this a few Black staff members of the

campaign have decided to write a letter to you all as it is within

our space to do so. Time and time again, history has continued

to show that Black people are expendable for the sake of capital

and a false sense of peace. The deaths of George Floyd,

Breonna Taylor, Nina Pop and too many others have become the

latest reminder of that.

The events that are taking place in Minneapolis, Los Angeles,

and Memphis are not futile nor are they extreme; rather they

are the result of years, lifetimes of oppression, bloodshed,

and anger. It seems that when we peacefully protest we are

shamed and ridiculed for making things seem bad, as we are

challenging the fake sense of peace.

As history tells us, riots, rebellions, and revolutions are not

always peaceful nor are they easy to watch. But, they are

necessary. For years Black people have died at the hands of

white supremacist structures and it is now time for there to be

change. Whether America is ready for it or not. Capitalism has

long stepped on the necks of Black people to keep us down,

keep us in place, with the intention to kill us. We, at this

campaign, stand with the people who have long been angered

and have decided to take matters into their own hands.

Let’s be clear. Everyone on this campaign takes these issues

seriously and, because Shaniyat is not Black, we hold him

accountable to the highest standard of allyship. However,

this campaign is not just about him.

This campaign is about eradicating the racist criminal justice

system. This campaign is about being serious about reparations

and closing the racial wealth gap. It’s about taking on the police

unions who have a stranglehold on police accountability.

This campaign is about fighting back.

We will not rest until we get justice. From the first day in office,

we are committed to fighting this battle, not through Shaniyat,

but with him.

With less than a month to election day, we’re more motivated

than ever to get to Congress and get shit done.
