Letter to the House of Representatives on the FY 2025 Budget Resolution

We strongly urge members of the House of Representatives to vote NO on the FY 2025 Budget Resolution. The budget resolution specifies at least $230 billion in cuts under the jurisdiction of the Agriculture Committee, $880 billion in cuts under the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and $330 billion from the Education and Workforce Committee. These cuts are not savings – they would impose huge costs to communities nationwide.

Proposals to Aid the Wealthy Come at the Expense of Health Care and Food Assistance for Millions

Our tax system should help families and children, not the wealthy and powerful. Tax policy can have a huge role in decreasing poverty, as we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic when the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) slashed childhood poverty in half. The Dangers of Federal School Vouchers and Its Impact on Public Education

We expect H.R. 9462, the Educational Choice for Children Act of 2024 by Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), a bill that would create a federal school voucher program and provide an opportunity for donors to avoid capital gains tax, to be reintroduced and pushed in 2025.
