Last week, I collected Valentine's Day cards written by students at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in Colton, California, to send to veterans at American Legion Post 155.
It was an honor to show appreciation for our veterans and to hear their concerns, especially as Republicans in Congress are leading us toward a potential government shutdown.

This was a wonderful opportunity to make our local veterans feel special on Valentine's Day and to hear directly from them about how the Trump Funding Freeze and a government shutdown could impact their lives.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk continue to target the VA and veterans' services by cutting millions in funding. They’ve laid off thousands of civil servants, many of whom are veterans.

It’s clear that they aren’t prioritizing the men and women who served our country and that’s shameful. I will keep fighting back against these attacks and work to protect the vital services the brave men and women who served our country rely on.
