John,
Senator Lisa Standridge (R-Norman) has amended SB 484, and it is scheduled to be heard tomorrow afternoon by the Senate Committee on Local & County Government.
The amended bill now prohibits shelters for unhoused folks from being built within 3,000 feet of several types of public and private buildings in any city other than Tulsa or OKC. Moreover, it imposes strict requirements upon ANY entity attempting to build a shelter, including religious groups, to notify nearby landowners.Â
By carving out some exceptions and making the bill more complicated, Sen. Standridge is attempting to sneak this bill by you. But throughout the state our towns and communities care for our neighbors and uphold the Oklahoma standard.Â

Please call these Senators and let them know that you believe in the Oklahoma Standard, that our neighbors in need are still our neighbors, and that cities, towns, and even churches should be able to care for Oklahomans free from Standridge's interference.
