| Friend, The House of Representatives is set to vote TOMORROW on a budget resolution that would harm millions of American families.(1) The bill would renew Donald Trump’s trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy -- and pay for it by drastically slashing funding for programs including Medicaid, SNAP, and Pell Grants.(2) The House is planning to take the disastrous Elon Musk funding cuts and make them permanent. Courage California members named stopping these funding cuts as their number one priority, and now we have to come together to prevent this budget bill from passing.
Trump has thrown his support behind the House bill, which he touted for implementing his “full America First agenda.”(3) The bill gives the military and border security more funding. But the bill also directs the House to cut $2 trillion from current programs. There is just no way to get that done without attacking Medicaid and even Social Security and Medicare.(4) In order to hand the 1% more tax breaks, MAGA Republicans are willing to hurt schoolchildren, people living in poverty, people in need of health care, and thousands of government workers including park rangers and postal workers. It’s unconscionable. There is good news, however: There is no way that House Speaker Mike Johnson can pass this bill without the entire Republican caucus voting for it -- or Democrats defecting.(5) And several Republicans are already expressing doubts. We need to let our members of Congress know that our eyes are on them right now, and they’d better not dare vote for this disastrous bill.
