Friend — On his first day back in the White House, Donald Trump illegally revoked protections against offshore drilling in parts of the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans.

Drilling in these protected waters puts marine life, coastal communities, and the climate at risk. Trump’s unlawful order could expose millions of acres of ocean to destruction and pollution.

Last week, we officially filed a lawsuit, along with partner groups, to stop him. Since then, LCV members across the country have pitched in with support. Many have started monthly contributions — and some are giving for the first time.

The response has been heartening. But, the truth is, we still need your help.

Our work to respond to Trump’s attacks on our environment takes enormous resources. We’re lobbying in Congress. We’re organizing in communities. And we’re fighting in the courts. We’ve set an urgent goal to raise $20,000 by the end of the month to support all this work.

Friend, I want you to know that we can win this fight. In fact, we’ve fought Trump on this very issue before — and we won.

Trump previously attempted to illegally reverse permanent protections from offshore drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic during his first term. LCV and other conservation groups sued — and in the case of LCV v. Donald J. Trump, a District Court Judge blocked President Trump’s order.

The legal precedent is clear — Trump’s executive order is unlawful. But the only way to force Trump to comply with the law is to take him to court again.

We’re asking for your help because after weeks of relentless attacks on the environment — illegally purging staff at environmental agencies, freezing federal grant funding for climate and environmental justice, and ending support for renewable energy — our resources to respond are stretched.

Thanks for standing with us, Friend. With your support, we’re confident we will win this fight — and more — for our environment.

Onward,

LCV Rapid Response Team
