Defending any ban on abortion is unconscionable. Using Steve King's absurd language to do it is unforgivable.

Steve King has long been a disgrace to our country, and it's past time to replace him with a Democrat who will show real leadership and fight for the interests of Iowans—and we can do it with J.D. Scholten.

Because in the face of an all-out Republican assault on reproductive rights in this country, we need to elect representatives—from Congress to the White House—who value women.

Let me tell you a bit more about J.D.: A fifth-generation Iowan, he played baseball in college and briefly professionally before becoming a litigation paralegal and working on pro bono cases.

In 2018, he launched an underdog campaign against Steve King and fell short of victory by just 3 points. But in a district that went for Trump by 27 points in 2016, it shows just how strong his people-powered campaign can be.

How'd he do it? J.D. hosted a town hall in every single one of the 39 counties in his district—a stark comparison to Rep. King, who barely visited his community while in Congress.

J.D.'s efforts made the district competitive for the first time in years. And his hard work goes to show that when you're committed to fighting for what's right, you can bring people together and win, in red, blue, and purple places.
