Team, it has been just over a month of Trump, and Americans are right to feel very concerned about the heavy pressure he is applying to the guardrails of democracy.
We’ve seen Trump try to warp the separation of powers — the fundamental structure of our Constitution. We’ve seen him cast aside brave democratic allies like Ukraine in favor of Russia’s murderous dictator, Vladimir Putin.
Then there’s Elon Musk’s DOGE, which is indiscriminately firing federal government employees in charge of keeping Americans safe — like aviation safety personnel, law enforcement officers, disease monitors, and nuclear weapons program staff. Elon’s Musk-rats have also been messing around in Americans’ private data, like your Social Security files.
A lot is going wrong here, and a lot more could go wrong.
There will be a huge downside for regular taxpayers, who get a lot less bang for their buck so that Republicans can give more tax breaks to Musk and his billionaire buddies — who already pay low-to-no taxes on their vast wealth. Basically, it’s a raid.
I will do everything I can to hold Trump and his regime accountable every step of the way. It’s not going to be easy, but we have a job to do: guard our common home against the plunder and corruption of creepy billionaires. I hope you’ll stand with me.
