Governor DeWine Announces 10 Projects Set to Create More Than $1 Billion in Investments
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced the approval of 10 projects that will create 1,063 new jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $74 million in new payroll and spur more than $1 billion in investments across Ohio.
De Angeli Prodotti USA Corp., city of London (Madison County), expects to create 231 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $12 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in London. De Angeli Products specializes in developing and manufacturing advanced conductors and wire cables for overhead power lines, transformers, generators, and motors. The proposed project includes its expansion into the Midwest with a new manufacturing facility for in-demand products. TCA approved a 1.561 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Kansai Helios Coatings GmbH, city of Johnstown (Licking County), expects to create 44 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $2.4 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Johnstown. The proposed project includes establishing the company’s largest U.S. facility, a powder coat production plant. TCA approved a 1.166 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
RHS Healthcare Solutions Inc., city of Groveport (Franklin County), expects to create 106 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $7.7 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Groveport. Reliable Health Solutions (RHS) is a medical supply distributor providing a wide range of healthcare products, including home healthcare, wound care, respiratory, diabetic, and orthopedic supplies to individuals, pharmacies, home medical equipment providers, and mid-sized distributors. The proposed project includes establishing a new facility to meet growing demand and adapt to changes in the healthcare marketplace. TCA approved a 1.466 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Breeze Aviation Group, Inc., city of Green (Summit County), expects to create 61 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $11 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Green. Breeze Aviation Group provides affordable commercial air travel, connecting passengers to smaller, underserved airports. The proposed project includes creating an operations base at Akron-Canton Airport, with 2-3 aircraft based at on site. TCA approved a 2.192 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Canon Healthcare USA, Inc., city of Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), expects to create 50 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $7.5 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Cleveland. Canon Healthcare is a manufacturer of advanced medical imaging systems including MRIs, diagnostic ultrasound systems, and x-ray machines. The proposed project includes the acquisition of a new facility focused on the production of imaging machines for cardiology, neurology, and musculoskeletal medicine. TCA approved a 2.842 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Lorad, LLC, city of Westlake (Cuyahoga County), expects to create 50 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $3.1 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s consolidation project in Westlake. Lorad designs, develops, and manufactures fall projection systems for workers. The proposed project includes the consolidation and expansion of the company’s existing facility to add new space, machinery, and equipment. TCA approved a 1.281 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
First Quality Tissue Midwest, LLC, city of Defiance (Defiance County), expects to create 407 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $22.5 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Defiance. First Quality Tissue manufactures adult incontinence products, feminine hygiene items, baby wipes, adult washcloths, and consumer paper goods for markets worldwide. The proposed project will establish a new manufacturing site in the Midwest. TCA approved a 1.740 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
KSM Business Services, Inc., city of Blue Ash (Hamilton County), expects to create 25 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $2.6 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion in Blue Ash. KSM Business Services is an independent CPA firm providing advisory, tax, and audit services to businesses across various industries. The proposed project includes the expansion of their current local presence to accommodate additional staff and increase their Midwest footprint. TCA approved a 1.380 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
United Alloy Ohio LLC, city of Union (Montgomery County), expects to create 60 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $3.8 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Union. United Alloy specializes in high-quality metal fabrication and powder coating products for power generation companies in domestic and international markets. The proposed project will establish its first Ohio manufacturing facility to expand reach in the Midwest and accommodate recent growth in the data center market. TCA approved a 1.320 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Tecnocap LLC, village of Bellaire (Belmont County), expects to create 29 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $1.3 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Bellaire. Tecnocap is a metal packaging manufacturer specializing in metal closures for glass jars and plastic containers. The proposed project includes purchasing and renovating a vacant building to consolidate its current operations from surrounding states into a single facility in Ohio. TCA approved a 1.046 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
The Job Creation Tax Credit is a performance-based credit. The actual value of the credits are based on the jobs that are ultimately created and the new payroll that’s generated, which will be subject to state verification.
