Our work pushing back against a budget that steals from the poor to hand even more tax breaks to the wealthy is working. Last week, 8 Republicans in swing districts wrote to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson expressing their concerns about the potential of $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid along with cuts to higher education/Pell Grants, and the deep cuts to SNAP.¹

Nearly a quarter of people in congressional districts nationwide (23.6%) receive Medicaid.²

At the same time, the right-wing is attempting to double down on the proposed $230 billion in cuts to SNAP’s nutrition assistance at a time when millions of our neighbors rely on food assistance programs.

Your urgent action is needed again today.

As soon as tomorrow, the House is planning to vote on this budget that cuts trillions of dollars from critical human needs just to hand even more tax cuts to the wealthy. Please take a moment to write to your members of Congress right now demanding they reject this budget, which is a massive upward transfer of wealth from working people to the richest 1%.

If Democrats vote in lockstep against this budget resolution and we can peel off a few swing-district Republicans who recognize the harm this will cause to their constituents, we can stop these cuts dead in their tracks.

The combination of health care and nutrition cuts will worsen people's health and could ultimately result in thousands of deaths. Take action today to demand Congress reject cuts to health care and nutrition to fund even more tax breaks for the wealthy.
