What an extraordinary first month it has been working for you all. I've had the privilege of travelling across the country, meeting grassroots Muslims, and witnessing the remarkable work being done in our communities. Your feedback on MCB's role has been invaluable and inspiring.
As promised in my inaugural speech, we've begun the 'open-heart surgery' of the Muslim Council of Britain. This past weekend, we convened an exceptional coalition of young professionals and introduced new teams to build a better MCB.
We've announced the decentralisation of our organisation, with regional hubs now driving our work forward. Find out how you can get involved here. Additionally, we've brought together mosques to share best practices on addressing knife crime in their areas.
With Ramadan approaching, we're preparing to showcase the outstanding work of our community. Do visit our Ramadan hub website for comprehensive resources and guidance.
Together, we're building a stronger, more dynamic MCB.
Warmest regards,
Dr Wajid Akhter - Secretary General

The first 2025-27 National Council meeting set out the ambitious Vision 2050 roadmap, emphasising inclusivity and enhanced community engagement across Britain. MCB volunteer teams also met this weekend, bringing together an exceptional coalition of young professionals to bring new energy to the organisation.

Muslim Council of Britain Urges World to Rebuild Gaza and Stop the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine
What makes Gaza beautiful is not merely its buildings and infrastructure, but its people. Any suggestion of reconstruction that involves the removal of Palestinians from their homeland – temporary or permanent – must be recognised for what it is: ethnic cleansing by another name. Such proposals are morally reprehensible and contrary to international law..
