President Trump lives in a fantasy if he thinks closing the Department of Education is a good idea.

It’s a terrible idea!

Americans know that the key to achieving the American dream begins with a good education.

The Education Department provides support for K-12 schools all around the country. It helps students pursuing higher education and job training programs with financial aid. It allows students with disabilities to access the same education opportunities as other students. And so much more.

Closing the Department of Education would harm every single student across America. It would have negative consequences for our country’s economic growth and our competitiveness for decades to come. And it would set America’s students up for failure.

I won’t stand by while Trump destroys America’s future. Add your name to my petition to demand the protection of the Department of Education.

There is nothing more important right now to our nation’s success than making sure students get the high-quality education they need — and I will use every legislative tool at my disposal to ensure this absurd shutdown doesn’t happen.
