CHEYENNE - The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will meet in person at 8 a.m. on February 27 in Cheyenne. The board will meet as the SBE followed by a meeting as the State Board of Career and Technical Education (SBCTE).
The SBE will convene to conduct a work session related to the statewide assessment system. Following the workshop, the board will continue with its regular meeting agenda.
The board will hear from Morgan Hahn, Wyoming’s Teacher of the Year, from Fremont County School District #1 in Lander, Wyoming. Elise Newton, a senior from Cheyenne Central High School, will also present her student DECA project to the board, which focuses on the implementation of the Wyoming Profile of a Graduate.
The board will consider taking action to open Chapter 10 Standards for rule promulgation. Recommendations include revisions to the World Languages and Culture Standards, as well as Mathematics and Science Extended Standards.
The SBCTE will convene and receive information about the Perkins indicators and a quarterly update on Career and Technical Education programs.
The board will pass on leadership to the new slate of officers at the close of the meeting, with current Chairman, Bill Lambert, and board member, Debbie Bovee, completing their six-year terms.
All SBE meetings are open to the public. The meeting will be held at Laramie County Community College, 1400 E. College Dr. Center for Conferences and Institutes (CCI), Room 130, Cheyenne, WY. Attendees may join the meeting virtually by registering in advance. After registering, participants will receive an email with instructions on how to join the meeting.
