As young people continue to face mounting threats to their safety, economic security, and overall wellbeing, those in power are doubling down on policies that worsen these challenges. Harmful policy decisions — from rollbacks on social programs to attacks on education and healthcare — are making it harder for youth to access the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. The National Collaborative for Transformative Youth Policy (TYP Collaborative) is collaborating with youth leaders to push back against these injustices and demand bold investments in policies that truly support young people’s futures.

Take Action: Sign On to Support Opportunity Youth

The Reconnecting Youth Campaign is calling on Congress to make big investments in opportunity youth — young people ages 16–24 who are disconnected from school and the workforce. By signing onto their appropriations letter, you can help push for increased federal funding for programs that provide education, job training, and career pathways for these youth. The deadline is Friday, March 7; both individuals and organizations are encouraged to join us in advocating for the resources young people need to build stable, self-sufficient futures. Read the full letter, sign on HERE, and send an action alert urging your elected officials to make sure opportunity youth aren’t left behind.

Invest in Youth-Led Change: Donate to the TYP Collaborative

Young people are meeting the moment by organizing, advocating, and shaping policies to build a better future for all of us — but they can’t do it alone. At a time when progress is under attack, investing in youth leadership is more critical than ever. Your donation to the TYP Collaborative helps power youth-led policy, advocacy, and activism efforts that will move us toward a more just and equitable future. Share Our Latest Work: On Paid Leave and the WIOA

Here’s what we’ve been working on to advance youth-led change:

  • The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is under threat, and we’re here to explain what’s at stake for opportunity youth. In her latest blog, TYP Collab policy strategist Madison Trice outlines the latest reauthorization efforts, what — and who — is in the way, and why this funding stream is vitally important for young people ages 16–24: “Without reauthorization, Congress risks losing a crucial source of workforce support for this important group.”

  • Young Workers Speak Out: The Need for Paid Leave provides an in-depth case study of young people nationwide and how workplace power dynamics shape their lives. Co-authored by TYP Collab staff members Kathy Tran and Madison Trice, this report highlights the urgent need for federal paid leave policies that center the voices of young workers, especially Black and brown youth, offering actionable recommendations that affirm their personhood as a core demographic of our economy and democracy.

Young people are pivotal in driving transformational change — but they need our support to keep pushing forward. Stay engaged and take action to help ensure youth leaders have the resources and opportunities necessary to achieve the liberated future they deserve.
