Michigan. Bundled up for the cold Michigan day, dozens of

anti-Israel protesters marched through the streets of Ann Arbor, holding up traffic before heading to the University of Michigan, where they called for BDS goals, a boycott of Israeli academic institutions and for the university to disband its police and department of public safety. The school’s Board of Regents has already rejected any anti-Israel divestment decisions, and a university spokesperson cautioned that “the university’s deep commitment to free expression does not extend to speech or conduct that violates the law or university policy” including targeted speech such as defamation, harassment or threats.

Swarthmore. As reported by a student newspaper, a sit-in by Swarthmore College’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) ended late Wednesday night after an

11-hour standoff with campus officials. Protesters occupied Parrish Hall, demanding the college drop disciplinary cases against anti-Israel activists and divest from companies tied to Israel. Officers from the school’s Public Safety department countered by locking the building and blocking additional protesters and supplies from entering. The administration warned demonstrators they faced interim suspension if they remained past 11 p.m. Rumors circulated that the FBI had contacted the school due to online calls for outside activists to join the protest, which the administration later confirmed. By 11 p.m., all protesters had vacated the building, and officials stated that no
suspensions would be issued.

Stanford. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has designated Stanford University as a

“hostile campus,” citing how the university has stifled anti-Israel activism and created a restrictive environment for students and faculty critical of Israel. CAIR said that Stanford disproportionately punished anti-Israel protesters and failed to protect international students from potential deportation for supporting Hamas. Stanford joins several other universities, including Columbia, Harvard and UCLA on CAIR’s “hostile campus” list.

Trinity. Trinity University’s Hillel chapter hosted a discussion titled

Is Peace Possible?, featuring political scientists David Makovsky and Ghaith al-Omari. The event at the Texas school explored prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace, emphasizing mutual recognition as a key obstacle. Both speakers supported a two-state solution but acknowledged its current political challenges. The event, attended by students, faculty and community members, was met with a small anti-Israel protest by Trinity’s Young Democratic Socialists of America. Hillel members defended the discussion as an opportunity for dialogue, with student Ethan Hoss stating, “I’m very hopeful that this event will show that there’s a spectrum of opinions and thoughts.”

4th annual Shabbos for 1000 from Feb. 28 to March 1. The event will bring together 1,000 college students for a powerful celebration of Jewish unity, featuring candle lighting, services, a festive meal, inspiring speakers and a Havdalah performance by Simcha Leiter. Rabbi Yosef Carlebach calls the gathering a testament to Jewish resilience and a tribute to longtime Chabad supporter Danny Kahane. Open to all college-age students, the event aims to strengthen Jewish identity and connection to Israel—one Shabbat meal at a time.

Everything’s Bigger in Texas, Even Jewish Unity. Texas A&M Hillel hosted a

Hillel Texas Summit, which brought together Jewish students from campuses across Texas. Led by Sam Houston State University (SHSU) senior Emilio Vallarta, the student-led summit featured discussions on Israel, Jewish life and leadership. Participants spent Shabbat forming meaningful connections, with many planning future cross-campus gatherings. Organizers emphasized the summit’s role in strengthening Jewish life through collaboration and shared experiences. Vallarta said, “Being at a college with a small Jewish community presents challenges ... I felt Sam Houston State University needed stronger Jewish connections. What started as a simple idea quickly evolved into a major
project, and I’m honored to have contributed to it.”

A Hero’s Welcome.Captain America: Brave New World has arrived, and despite speculation, Shira Haas’s character, Ruth Bat-Seraph, remains

proudly Israeli. While the film omits her Mossad backstory from the comics, she is introduced as an advisor to the U.S. president, played by Harrison Ford. Audiences cheered at her on-screen presence, especially when she declared she was from Israel. Haas delivers a powerful performance, proving to be a force in the action-packed superhero saga.

An Ancient Penny for Your Thoughts. A tourist from California discovered a

rare Second Temple period coin in an Israeli archaeological site called Ancient Shiloh. The coin is now with the Israel Antiquities Authority for cleaning and in-depth analysis. The coin has characteristics of those minted during the reign of Alexander Jannaeus, a Hasmonean king. The site is linked to the biblical story of Hannah praying for a son, and the coin's Californian finder explained that this was his second time at the location: "I was here four years ago with my wife. We came to pray for a child, just like Hannah in the Bible."
