Many members of the disability community rely on home-and-community-based services, also known as HCBS. These supports help our community members to participate in daily life. But many community-based service providers are facing financial difficulties due to the COVID crisis, leaving people with disabilities at risk of being forced into institutions — where COVID-19 outbreaks are surging. That’s why we’re hosting a COVID-19 Call-In Tuesday every week, starting next week on June 2nd, to tell the Senate we need a coronavirus relief package that features emergency funding for home- and community-based services. Sign up at our Facebook page here, and get ready to call your Senators!

The House of Representatives has already put HCBS funding into their coronavirus relief package, but the Senate has indicated that they may not pass any kind of relief bill at all. We need to remind them to do their jobs and save our community members’ lives.

With scripts, tips, and our Proxy Call system, our call-ins make it easy to hold your elected officials accountable. Sign up here to take part in Tuesday’s call-in, and help us spread the word by inviting your friends! On Tuesday, let’s remind our Senators that when it comes to keeping us safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, we refuse to leave anyone behind.
