Office of Governor Tony Evers *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:* February 7, 2025 Contact: [email protected]    *Gov. Evers’ Statement on New Lawsuit to Stop Trump Administration from Disclosing Wisconsinites’ Sensitive Information and Data* "Wisconsin joins lawsuit against Trump Administration aiming to protect Wisconsinites’ Social Security numbers, bank account information, and other sensitive personal details " MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today released a statement regarding a new lawsuit brought by a multi-state coalition, including Wisconsin, against the Trump Administration and aimed at protecting Wisconsinites’ Social Security numbers, bank account information, and other sensitive personal details from unauthorized access:

“Wisconsinites expect the federal government to treat their Social Security numbers, bank account information, and other sensitive personal details with the highest level of protection and confidentiality—and that obligation doesn’t go out the window just because Elon Musk says it should.

“Giving political appointees access to our most personal information like this is illegal. That’s plain as day.”
