John, we didn’t go into teaching expecting to become advocates against gun violence, yet here we are. After every school shooting, headline, and every student or colleague lost, we had no choice but to take action.

So we formed Teacher’s Unify because it was impossible to care and stay silent. We knew that something had to change, and that we were going to be a part of that change.

Now, we want to tell you the three main reasons why teachers across the nation are joining our movement, and fighting for the change we need. But first, we have to ask: Is there any way you can chip in to help fund our work amplifying teachers’ voices in the fight to end gun violence? ([link removed])

JOIN OUR MOVEMENT ([link removed])

So why this movement, and why now?
1. The gun violence epidemic is the number one cause of death for children. Read that again, John. Gun deaths for children have increased 106% since 2013, and has been their leading cause of death since 2020.
2. We can bring solutions to the process. After every shooting, politicians and the media listen to everyone except the teachers on the front lines. We know how to keep our students safe, and we’re stepping up to make it happen.
3. We don’t get to move on. After every shooting, when the politicians and cameras leave, we still live in the aftermath of a tragedy. We need a way to keep our voices strong once the news cycle moves on.

We cannot teach like this, and we don’t have to live like this. Already, Teachers Unify has been able to make a difference, leading trainings and building our presence on campuses nationwide. But we cannot stop here – and that’s why we need your help.

We’re teachers, not fundraisers, so our work depends on support from generous people like you who care as much as we do. If you’re with us to help end gun violence, and believe in the power of teachers to lead this charge, please, will you chip in $25 right now to keep us going against the odds? ([link removed])
