Van Duyne From introducing a bill to cut regulatory red tape to passing legislation that expands American energy to supporting President Trump’s effort to protect girls’ sports, it’s been an exciting and produc Washington, D.C. – From introducing a bill to cut regulatory red tape to passing legislation that expands American energy to supporting President Trump’s effort to protect girls’ sports, it’s been an exciting and productive week in Washington! On Monday, I spoke with Fox Business about President Trump’s wise decision to shut down the wasteful spending from the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has abused massive hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars as a slush fund. The next day, I met with Texas business leaders to discuss solutions to educate and prepare our workforce, such as expanding access to apprenticeships. In the afternoon, I spoke with the lead project engineer, general manager, and chief counsel of the Tarrant Regional Water District, which provides water for more than two million North Texans. I appreciated hearing about their efforts to mitigate flood risks and plan for our growing community. Later, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) and I introduced the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act, which you can read about in my Texas-24 Work of the Week section. On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of giving a tour of the U.S. Capitol Dome to Riley Gaines and her fellow athletes-turned-activists. Riley, Kaitlynn, Sia, and Payton have been courageously leading the fight to save girls’ sports, and I’m so grateful for their advocacy! To kick off Wednesday, I spoke with job creators from across the country and heard how the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts allowed them to invest in the U.S., create better jobs, and increase wages for employees. I’m working to renew these pro-growth provisions to uplift working families in North Texas. After, it was wonderful to meet with Texas mayors and community leaders visiting D.C. with North Texas Commission! We had a great discussion about my work to make Washington more like Texas – from lowering taxes to slashing regulations, there’s much to be done. I went to our Small Business Committee hearing, where I spoke with our witnesses – small business owners representing various industries – about the $1.8 trillion of burdensome regulations imposed by unelected bureaucrats during the previous administration and how I’m working to ease this burden. You can click here to watch my full line of questioning. I also led 10 of my colleagues in introducing the Voter Eligibility Verification Act to secure our elections from illegal aliens. As you may know, Wednesday was National Girls and Women in Sports Day. I had the honor of going to the White House that afternoon to watch President Trump sign an executive order to protect women and girls by keeping men out of women’s sports! I’m so glad we have a President who is pushing back on radical transgender ideologies and standing up for common sense! On Thursday, I talked with folks from Alliant Systems in Dallas about policies that will allow us to make more goods in America and strengthen our workforce. Up next, I went to our Ways and Means Subcommittee on Work and Welfare hearing to continue my effort to hold fraudsters accountable for stealing billions in unemployment benefits meant for Americans. To watch my remarks and questions to our witnesses, please click here or on the image below. The American people are frustrated by the deadly fentanyl that has entered our country over the last four years and poured into communities across our country, killing hundreds of thousands of loved ones. I voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act to classify fentanyl in the most dangerous class of drugs, giving law enforcement additional tools to keep us safe. As you may have seen, I published an op-ed in Fox News this week, highlighting the importance of confronting national security threats like border security and sanctuary cities. I also met with elected officials from Alberta, Canada, to discuss the deep economic ties between our countries, as well as the importance of improving cooperation on securing the Northern border to halt the trafficking of fentanyl. This morning, I voted to pass the Protecting American Energy Production Act to end Democrats’ war on American oil and gas and lower costs for working families. After, I was glad to catch up with a familiar face from Flower Mound, former Mayor Derek France! Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I reintroduced my Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act to ease the pain of bureaucratic overregulation for North Texas job creators. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is 17-year-old Thomas Paskvan from Southlake. Thomas recently took home another first-place victory at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Fiddle Showdown!
