It has only been two and half weeks since Donald Trump took office but, step by step, he and his Unelected Co-President Elon Musk are already trying to dismantle our government and crush vital organizations and programs established and approved by Congress for the health and security of the American people. Trump’s cruel, disruptive and unconstitutional actions have affected the LGBTQ+ community and communities of color, assaulted our Constitution’s separation of powers, and sowed chaos, confusion and fear in San Francisco and across our country.
Instead of focusing on bringing costs down for American families as he promised ahead of the election, Trump has taken action to harm America’s working families:
- Raising health costs for our seniors
- Implementing an illegal freeze of federal spending exclusively authorized by Congress under the Constitution
- Threatening our nation’s closest regional allies and biggest trading partners with tariffs that would hit American families directly in the pocketbook
- Targeting USAID, bringing lifesaving work for some of the most vulnerable people in the world to a screeching halt
- Giving his Unelected Billionaire Co-President Elon Musk and Musk’s unvetted, uncredentialed and unaccountable lackeys access to your sensitive personal data

Democrats are fighting back on all fronts to block this hostile takeover. Make no mistake, this was not a landslide election and Trump and Republicans do not have a mandate to run roughshod over our Constitution to ram through their extremist agenda. In fact, House Democrats increased our numbers in the last election, resulting in an even more razor-thin Republican majority that includes several Republicans in competitive districts who already warned their own leadership to Keep Their Hands Off Our Health Care.

Trump and MAGA Republicans have NO MANDATE to turn back the clock on civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community, to attack our health care, to decimate Medicaid, to illegally defund vital programs that millions of Americans depend on – or to allow a HOSTILE TAKEOVER of our sensitive personal data by Unelected Co-President Elon Musk.
Every single community in America is dealing with the harmful impact of Trump’s dangerous hostile takeover and disruption of vital basic services constitutionally delivered by Congress to support our schools, care for our veterans, feed vulnerable seniors and children, and provide health care for millions of Americans.
