A lot of great Wisconsin candidates have been forced to jump through several unexpected, difficult to clear hoops this year, given the Coronavirus. One thing that has been especially challenging this year is collecting the necessary number of signatures required just to get on the ballot. The right of any American to run for office should be a cornerstone of our democracy. Unfortunately, few concessions for ballot requirements were made, despite these unprecedented circumstances.
The deadline for signatures to be collected is June 1st, and it is fast approaching. No candidates have been officially endorsed at this time by OWR, but here are some candidates who could use your help getting past the finish line:
Jeff Jacobs, Candidate for State Assembly, District 54 | Oshkosh
I am running to provide the citizens of the 54th district an alternative to the corporate influenced two option political system. The major party candidates that dominate our democracy agree on very little other than the idea that voters shouldn’t have third-party and independent options. My candidacy gives this community an opportunity to reject the false notion that a citizenry cannot change a system that no longer serves it well.
Emily Voight, Candidate for State Assembly, District 3| Appleton area
Emily is an unapologetic progressive who believes that public servants should serve the public, not themselves. Healthcare is a human right, and the people of Wisconsin deserve even better than BadgerCare. Fight to elect her, and she will fight for all of you.
Michael Beardsley, Congressional Candidate, WI-06
Michael Beardsley's solutions-focused campaign prioritizes urgently fighting climate change with bold action and providing a universal single-payer healthcare system. The campaign is focused on leading by example and fighting for ideas that lift us all up, not the usual political rhetoric that we see too often today.
Aisha Moe, Candidate for State Senate District 26 | Madison area
Aisha Moe is running for State Senate in the 26th District in order to push progressive policies such as providing healthcare access for every Wisconsinite, protecting our environment, championing debt-free college, legalizing cannabis and creating expungements for non-violent drug crimes.
Ron Rosenberry Chase, Candidate for State Assembly, District 78 | Madison area
I am a fierce progressive leftist running as an independent to try and break the logjam between both parties in the legislature. I have long championed the policies advocated by Senator Sanders, and I am committed to pushing through laws and policies to help people first.
Dr. Mark Neumann, Congressional Candidate, WI-03
Dr. Mark believes that the purpose of our government is to achieve healthy people and a healthy planet. He believes it is best to lead from the front and not the back. It is best for an elected official to be a resource and a catalyst to promote honest, informed and clear political conversation within the community that he or she serves
