Gov. Reynolds sets date for Iowa House District 100 special election 

 

DES MOINES— Gov. Reynolds issued a proclamation today settingTuesday, March 11, 2025, as thedate for a special election in IowaHouseDistrict 100following the death of Representative Martin Graber. 

 

Iowa Code section 69.14 outlines the authority given to the governor to set a special election. 

 

Graber served his country for more than three decades in the Iowa Army National Guard before he was elected to the Iowa House in 2020. Graber was serving his third term in the Iowa Legislature when he passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025.HouseDistrict100 is located inLee County. 

 

The proclamation setting the date of the special electioncan be found onlineand reads as follows: 

 

SPECIAL ELECTION PROCLAMATION 

 

WHEREAS, the Office of State Representative for the One-Hundredth (100th) State House District of the Iowa General Assembly, as defined by section 41.1(100) of the 2025 Iowa Code has become vacant by reason of the death of Iowa State Representative Martin Graber on January 31, 2025. 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, KIMBERLY K. REYNOLDS, Governor of the State of Iowa, by the power and authority vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim and direct that a special election to fill said vacancy shall be held within said District on: 

 

TUESDAY, THE ELEVENTH (11TH) DAY OF MARCH, 2025 A.D. 

 

WHEREFORE, all electors within the One-Hundredth (100th) State House District will take due notice and the Lee County Commissioner of Elections shall give official notice as provided in section 39.6 of the Iowa Code.
