Today, I’m officially launching my campaign for Congress to flip AZ-06 blue! I’m about to ask you to split a donation between Fight for Progress and my campaign to become a Founding Donor, but first, I need you to read this email from start to finish:

I’m a retired U.S. Marine Corps Drill Instructor, a single mom, and Democrat running to flip AZ-06 – one of the most flippable districts in the country.

But if you had told me as a kid in rural Arizona—working the cotton fields alongside my parents—that I’d be running for Congress, I might have laughed. Not because I didn’t have the fight in me, but because people like me weren’t supposed to make it this far.

Neither of my parents had above a high school education. We experienced poverty my whole childhood.

Only in America can a girl who grew up like me defy the odds and go on to become a Marine, college graduate, mother, and with your help, a member of Congress.

But this will be one of the most competitive races in the country, and could determine control of Congress.

And we know the special interests – who’ve only been getting richer while working families suffer – will spend every penny they have to keep this seat and stay in power.

Well, after 20 years of military service and leading teams through three combat tours in active war zones, I’m not afraid of a fight. But I also never go into one without a plan.

And right now, my plan of action is to have 250 Founding Donors in the next 72 hours, but that requires you joining this fight so we can get our fundraising off the ground.
