Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, This week, I had the honor of standing with President Trump as he took action to protect girls’ sports and ensure that girls are never forced to compete against biological males. It was great to be with my dear friends and Iowa’s leaders for such a historic moment for women and girls. The Biden Administration and the Left tried to blur the line between boys and girls – the days of woke, radical nonsense having a megaphone at the White House are long gone. This historic executive order means so much to the parents who lose sleep at night wondering whether their daughters will have private locker rooms and get a fair chance to compete in the sports they’re passionate about. It was moving to see President Trump restore hope for so many young female athletes! Best, Combatting the Fentanyl Epidemic After four years of drugs flowing freely across our borders, we are witnessing a nationwide drug epidemic—especially fentanyl—killing young Americans. President Trump has been hard at work to begin reversing the damage that four years of open borders has done to our communities, but we must address the issue from within our borders, too. On Thursday, I voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act to ensure law enforcement has the tools they need to keep these lethal and dangerous drugs off our streets. This bill takes much needed steps that empower our police officers and save American lives. As I mom, I cannot imagine the tragedy of losing a child or loved one to fentanyl poisoning. I will always support those on the frontlines and ensure we have the resources necessary to combat fentanyl trafficking and keep our children safe. Connecting With Iowans on My 22 County Tour This week, I visited Operation Empower’s Liberty Recovery Center, where I had a great discussion about the impact of their residential recovery housing programs. These programs provide essential services to those with substance abuse issues and are essential in our fight against the drug epidemic that has wreaked havoc across our country. Operation Empower is doing incredible work in the Dubuque community! My second stop was at Opening Doors, where they help some of Iowa’s most vulnerable women take the first steps in rebuilding their lives. We had a fantastic meeting and discussed how Congress can be good partners in their work to serve and empower women and children in the Dubuque area. I appreciate their dedication to the communities they serve. Later, I had a fascinating stop at Grainwell Puffed Grains to learn more about their operation. Iowa has a rich agricultural history – we see it not only in our family farms but in our manufacturing industry as well. From our farmers to your table, I will continue to tell the story of Iowa agriculture in Congress. I ended my day of 22 County Tour stops by visiting a few businesses in downtown Independence. Family and small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and towns like Independence provide the opportunity for these businesses to thrive in rural Iowa. It was amazing to be greeted by all the hard working people that keep downtown Independence moving and such a wonderful place to visit. In Case You Missed It: Quick Hits This week I joined Truth Social! Follow me on Truth to keep up with my work in Congress and how I’m standing up for Iowa’s Second District. I joined my colleagues & President Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast. I toured the Cedar Rapids Air Traffic Control Tower. I was appointed to continue serving on House Select Committee to Combat Communist China. I congratulated Iowan Peggy Whitson for being inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame. In the News I joined American Agenda on Newsmax to discuss the National Prayer Breakfast I attended with President Trump. WATCH HERE I also joined The Julie Mason Show on Sirius XM to discuss my priorities in the new Congress and President Trump's first month in office. LISTEN HERE Des Moines Register: Rep.
