New York must be a xxxxxx against the damage done in DC

Friend,

If you're like me, you've watched what's happened to our federal government over the last two weeks with great horror. The Trump administration unilaterally shut off billions in  federal funding to state and local governments—including New York—as well as to federal grant recipients that offer services like job training, healthcare and support for children with disabilities. ICE raids have begun across the country and even immigrants without criminal records have been swept up in the deportation dragnet.

The world's richest man, Elon Musk, has been handed the keys to our government by Trump and is unilaterally dismantling federal agencies, removing federal employees from their jobs, and accessing taxpayers’ personal information. No one elected Elon Musk to anything.

Right before our very eyes, the Trump administration is dismantling our democracy and testing the bounds of our Constitution.

So far, federal courts have put a pause on many of the Trump administration's early moves, but that can only hold the line for so long.

It's all overwhelming, but we can't afford to be shell-shocked. We have to fight back.

We need Democrats from every level of government to fight every step of the way. Stop legitimizing Trump by voting for his nominees. Take the administration to court to challenge their blatantly illegal and unconstitutional moves. Make sure the American people know who is being harmed by these destructive policies.

And here in New York, we have to mobilize.

Join me this Sunday, February 8th, for a town hall to talk about what New York is doing to protect ourselves from the federal government and how we are fighting back. We’ll map out our own vision for the future of our city and country: one where working families have safe, affordable places to live, where everyone has access to critical services like healthcare and childcare, and where all New Yorkers—regardless of where they were born or who they love—can thrive.

This is an all-hands-on deck moment for us. New York has an opportunity to be a xxxxxx against the damage being done in DC. Let's do this together.
