Dear Reader,

I am pleased to announce that the 2025 FIRST THINGS Chicago Conversation will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m.

Anna Moreland, Anne Quinn Welsh Endowed Chair and director of the honors program at Villanova University, and I will discuss “Cultivating Virtue in the Age of TikTok.”

Tickets to this public conversation are free of charge with a suggested donation of $25. Sponsorships are also available starting at $1,000.

With books that include Known by Nature: Thomas Aquinas on Natural Knowledge of God (2010) and The Young Adult Playbook: Living Like It Matters (2024), Moreland has achieved a topical breadth that few can match.

A theologian by training who has worked closely with students for more than a decade, she is uniquely qualified to address the topic of our 2025 Chicago Conversation: Is virtue possible in the age of TikTok? If so, how can we possibly cultivate it?

I hope you’ll join us on April 16 in Chicago for what promises to be an engaging and illuminating conversation.
