Light Rail Community (LRC) Zone Public Outreach

The County is creating a new Light Rail Community (LRC) zone that will define the standards that development near future light rail stations will need to meet. The public outreach period for the draft LRC zone regulations is open through March 14, 2025. You're invited to review and provide comments on the draft LRC zone regulations. Read more... Critical Area Regulations (CAR) Monitoring Report

Critical areas are defined in Snohomish County Code as wetlands, critical aquifer recharge areas, fish and wildlife habitat, frequently flooded areas, and geologically hazardous areas. Part of the required update of the Critical Area Regulations (detailed in the Spring 2024 edition of this newsletter) is a CAR Monitoring Report that must utilize the best available science to measure the county’s effectiveness in preserving critical area functions and value. Summer 2024 Outreach Events

County staff were out in the community in 2024 talking to you! Summer 2024 outreach included several public engagement events where staff met with county residents. Staff had the opportunity to showcase the county’s work on the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update, and provided information on how the public could continue to be involved in the process to implement the policies. Planning for Light Rail in Snohomish County

Sound Transit is in the planning stage for the Everett Link light rail extension that will connect from Lynnwood City Center to downtown Everet. New Mixed Use Corridor Zone
MUC zone thumb
The Mixed Use Corridor (MUC) zone is a new zone specific to the
Urban Core Subarea. The MUC zone is applied along several highway
and arterial corridors including Hwy 99 and 164th Street SW. The zone supports a mix of high-density residential, office, and commercial uses with public and community facilities. Read more... [ [link removed] ]

Accelerating Equitable Building Decarbonization

Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties are a part of a successful application led by King County for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG). King County was one of 25 selected out of 300 applications nationwide (and the only Washington State awardee) for the CPRG implementation grants funded by the Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The grant awards King County with $49,999,975 in 2024 and disperses the funds across the region. Read more... [ [link removed] ]
