Dear John,
It has been another busy week here at the Fraser Institute!
On Tuesday, we put out a new study [[link removed]] which found that per-person federal program spending will reach an estimated $13,226 in 2020, by far the highest level in the history of the country. This study generated headlines in newspapers across the country, and was seen by millions of people on social media.
Today, we published a short series of predictions about Canada's post-COVID world from Fraser Institute researchers and senior fellows. Predictions include:
Skepticism of models and forecasts Bigger government Continued rise of trade protectionism Less globalization, more localization Declining home ownership Accelerated transition to e-commerce Greater recognition of voluntary collective action Changing workforce conditions—accelerated rise of telecommuting Heightened demand for health-care reform
These predictions were featured in the Financial Post and ran in nearly 60 other newspapers and media outlets! You can read these predictions in their entirety here [[link removed]].
John, our entire team has been working overtime lately to bring these important studies and commentaries to Canadians. As governments spend billions of dollars in response to COVID, we are proud of the work we do to inform Canadians of the long-term impacts this spending will have.
As you know, the Fraser Institute does not accept government grants or payments for research — we depend on supporters like you. If you can, please consider making a donation today [[link removed]] so that we can continue doing this important work!
Thank you so much for your support.
Stay safe,
Niels Veldhuis
President
