The new All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Elections were the first to call for a National Commission, in their report “Free But Not Fair”. Since then, the idea has caught the imagination of MPs inside Parliament and members of the public outside, and been mentioned in nearly 200 press articles.
Many of the MPs who spoke in last week’s Commons debate on Proportional Representation went out of their way to highlight the case for a National Commission, correctly identifying it as a vital first step towards restoring public trust in politics.
This growing momentum inside Parliament is unprecedented. But to be really effective, we need to complement the MPs’ work inside Parliament with a public movement outside.
That’s where YOU come in!
We need tens of thousands of ordinary people to join the call for a National Commission on Electoral Reform so that the government feels the pressure coming at them from all sides. By generating pressure inside and outside Parliament, we will ensure the government can’t ignore us!
