I want to share a story that I feel is instructive at this moment.

Like any trustworthy neighborhood meteorologist, I have friends at the National Weather Service (NWS). And what I’m hearing is deeply concerning.

People who’ve dedicated their lives to keeping us safe are radio silent right now, out of fear – fear of losing their jobs, or worse.

The current administration’s anti-science, anti-climate bullying has some of the most talented experts in the world trying to find alternative ways to communicate with each other, because anything in writing might be weaponized against them and their lifelong mission.

When the truth is silenced, when our best public servants have to deny reality or face retribution, we’re acting no better than the most anti-democratic, third world countries.

Think about this, friend: we’re not just losing time that could have been spent innovating and leading in climate science, something we’ve proudly done for decades, but basic services – like alerting the public ahead of major storms – are being crippled out of fear.

This is a five-star alarm, and it’s important that we not look away while this is happening.

We absolutely have to flip the House to secure a majority that will protect our safety and act on climate, but until we have that chance we have to use these next two years amplifying these acts of terror being committed on the public servants who commit their lives to a better America.

That’s why I’m asking you to sign on today to commit to continue mobilizing against Trump’s attack on climate science. Everything from our home insurance prices to our neighbor’s safety depends on it.

Sign on – Protect Climate Scientists

As long as we stick together we will prevail, friend.
