John,
Last week, the Trump administration tried to freeze support for all federal grants and loans — an illegal action that affects everything from Medicaid and Head Start to Pell Grants and rental assistance.
Many of you spoke out, and a federal judge halted the freeze. But I’ve heard from folks in the 6th District reeling from Trump’s order: Websites are not working, support groups cannot access the funds they need for payroll, and struggling families are bracing for the next drastic policy shift.

I hear your fear and frustration that your elected leaders aren’t taking action fast enough.
The actions that can be taken most rapidly are lawsuits, which we’re seeing from state attorneys general and groups like the ACLU. Our committee leaders are coordinating with outside efforts wherever possible.
My colleagues and I are working on legislation to address the Trump administration’s actions as quickly as possible. This week, we will be sharing stories on the House floor from our constituents — like you — to tangibly show how Trump’s actions are disrupting our lives.
The more stories we have from people who have been personally affected by the freeze or the mass confusion and chaos it caused, the stronger our arguments can be.

The bottom line is that House Democrats are taking all available actions to stop this freeze and protect programs that help working families.
Trump, Musk, and MAGA Republicans want to cut programs like Medicaid to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. It’s disgusting and unconscionable, and we need to use every tool in our toolbox to fight back.
Thank you so much for everything you do.
