A Word From the CEO
-------------------

Dear Reader,

Significant developments in the realm of violent extremism and foreign influence in America have marked the past few weeks. In a striking move, President Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting pro-Hamas sympathizers on college campuses. This is coupled with legal actions against foreign funding in U.S. education, where watchdog groups have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Education to reveal details of Qatar's financial influence on major American universities, highlighting concerns over academic integrity and national security.

On the domestic front, arrests have continued in relation to hate crimes and terrorism. In Tucson, two men were sentenced for conspiring to join ISIS, while in Nashville, the aftermath of a deadly school shooting led to further arrests for threats of violence, underscoring the persistent threat of radicalization among youth. These events underscore the ongoing battle against various forms of extremism and foreign interference within our borders.

Sincerely,

*Watchdogs Sue US Government Over Qatar Funding*
------------------------------------------------

*

The Zachor Legal Institute and Judicial Watch have filed a FOIA lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education to obtain records on Qatar's funding of five American universities: Georgetown, Northwestern, Cornell, Harvard, and the University of Michigan. This legal action follows Texas A&M's decision to close its Qatar campus due to significant financial ties.

*

Since 2007, Qatar has reportedly provided around $6 billion to U.S. universities. Critics argue this funding gives Qatar undue influence over academic and political discourse in the U.S., particularly in mainstreaming anti-Israel propaganda and silencing criticism of Qatar's support for groups like Hamas.

*

Earlier legal battles revealed over $522 million from the Qatar Foundation to Texas A&M between 2013 and 2018, including concerning intellectual property transfers. This disclosure was pivotal in Texas A&M's decision to close its Doha campus, highlighting issues about control over research and discoveries.

*

The lawsuit is part of a larger scrutiny of foreign influence in U.S. education, with critics pointing to Qatar's involvement in K-12 education through the Qatar Foundation International, promoting anti-Israel narratives. Additionally, there are concerns about Qatar's propagation of antisemitism and its refusal to comply with U.S. legal requirements like FARA registration for AJ+.
